Dilemma

Mon Apr 20, 2009, 1:22 AM
As an artist, I'm still in search of the "RIGHT" artform. If you want to be recognised you need a certain style, which jumps to the eye immediately. So people will say if they see your work: That's something from Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Piet Modriaan, or whoever".
You also need to know what your going to do with your art.
And I don't really know :( Isn't that sad? :)
Should I be making portaits or should I be spending my precious time in making more original/abstract works like Harry the Hair or the Adam & Eve collection?
My wife tells me I should definitely stop making portraits because I'm not good enough; even if I tried real hard. Maybe she's right?
But, I do enjoy making portraits. But I also enjoy making original stuff.
I'm a bit lost here. How can you make the right choice in what to do with you future artwork?
It's so hard...
